Welcome to My Little Corner of the Internet!

Writing my way from corporate chaos to cozy calm — with caffeine, of course.

Jovy is the bookish soul behind BookishGal.com, a cozy lifestyle and bookish blog for introverts learning to balance office life and daydreams. Once a proud night gremlin, now a soft-life-in-progress — she writes about books, cozy living, and the hilarious pursuit of peace in a world that runs on chaos (and caffeine).

“She is too fond of books, and it has turned her brain.”

Louisa May Alcott

About Me — Jovy, the Girl Behind BookishGal

Hi, I’m Jovy — the Ice coffee with caramel-sipping, book-hoarding, sleep-deprived soul behind BookishGal.com, a cozy lifestyle and bookish blog for introverts who are just trying to find balance between fictional peace and real-life deadlines.

Once upon a time (specifically pre-pandemic), I was your typical WFH girlie — living in comfy pajamas, thriving on iced coffee, and measuring time by Zoom meetings and snack breaks. It was peaceful, predictable… and slightly feral.

Then one day, I decided to join corporate life — craving structure, social life, and maybe a reason to wear something other than loungewear. It was brave. It was adult. It was also… a lot. Three years later, I find myself in what I lovingly call my soft exit era — that season of quiet rebellion where you start craving slow mornings, home-baked pastries, and a garden that doesn’t judge you for talking to your plants.

My dream? To be that cozy girl archetype — the one who wakes up early (on purpose), brews tea in an actual teapot, bakes croissants on weekends, grows her own fruits and veggies, and doesn’t have to worry about rent or landlords because she owns the house (manifesting, aggressively).

But reality? I’m still a recovering night gremlin, learning how to wake up before noon, commuting among the masses, and constantly asking myself, “Why are there this many humans on a Tuesday morning?”

BookishGal became my escape — a warm, wordy corner for all the cozy souls who want to live softly but still pay the bills. Here, I write about:

→  The books that break and heal us in equal measure

→  Cozy living and slow life habits for modern introverts

→  Honest reflections on career burnout, balance, and creative life

→  Bookish finds, whimsical merch, and everyday aesthetic joys

This isn’t your typical “I quit my job to live in a cottage” story (though, fingers crossed). It’s the journey before that — the one filled with early alarms, overthinking, and trying to romanticize your commute while listening to Taylor Swift and pretending you’re in a coming-of-age film.

“It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.” – Albus Dumbledore

If you’ve ever:

  • Drank your 3rd coffee at 10 a.m. just to feel something,
  • Cried over fictional characters while your real life emails piled up, or
  • Dreamed of owning a cottage filled with books, cats, and questionable Wi-Fi —

Then, welcome home. You’re exactly where you need to be. 💕

Here at BookishGal, I’m documenting the hilarious, heartfelt quest to build a balanced, beautiful, and slightly chaotic life — one cozy cup, one chapter, and one honest confession at a time.

“Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it yet.” – L.M. Montgomery

“She had a knack for seeing beauty where others saw nothing.” – Louisa May Alcott
